According to the statistics released by the Steel Exporters' Association (CIB), in December 2011 Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 133,275 metric tons, increasing by 89.3 percent month on month and up 59 percent from December 2010. The revenue generated by Turkey's wire rod exports in December totaled $91.1 million, increasing by 83.2 percent year on year and up 79.45 percent compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, in 2011, Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 10.1 percent, amounting to 1.25 million metric tons, while the revenue from these exports totaled $891.1 million, up 35.3 percent, both compared to 2010.
In 2011, Turkey's wire rod exports to the US decreased by 23.2 percent to 136,774 mt, while Turkish mills have also focused on the Latin American and Central African markets. Turkey's wire rod exports to Brazil and Kenya increased respectively by 35.37 percent and 969 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
