According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK),
Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in April this year increased by 12.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and was down by 4.2 percent over March this year.
In April, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in
Turkey improved by 3.9 percent year on year and registered a 8.3 percent decrease from the previous month, following two consecutive months of month-on-month increase. Meanwhile, on year-on year basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010. The industrial turnover index for fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, recorded a rise of 14.4 percent year on year in the month in question and fell 4.3 percent from the previous month.
Meanwhile, in April this year, the industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 7.5 percent from March and was up 3.2 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010. The industrial new orders index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, in April this year rose 19.9 percent compared to the same month of 2011 and was down 18.1 percent compared to the previous month, following a month-on-month increase of 38.5 percent recorded in the previous month.
