Turkish metals manufacture turnover in Jan sees 13th straight year-on-year rise

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index (2005=100) in January this year increased by 33.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was down 19 percent over December 2010.

In January, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 59.3 percent year on year and registered a decline of 11.2 percent over the previous month. The index recorded a month-on-month decrease in January after an increase in December 2010. On year-on year basis, the index was up for the 13th consecutive month.

Meanwhile, in January, the monthly industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 13.5 percent over the previous month and was up 45.7 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, the index was up for the 13th consecutive month while it dropped on month-on-month basis following an increase in the last month of 2010.
