According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in March this year increased by 13.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and was up by 13.2 percent over February this year.
In March, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 14.4 percent year on year and registered a 7.4 percent increase over the previous month, rising for the second consecutive month. Meanwhile, on year-on year basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010.
Meanwhile, in the year-on-year comparison for the industrial new orders index in March 2012, the highest increase was realized in manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, with 39.7 percent. On the other hand, in the month in question the industrial new orders index for fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, recorded a rise of 38.5 percent month on month. In March this year, the industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 6.3 percent over February and was up 13 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010.
