Speaking at the 7th SteelOrbis Turkish Steel Market Conference held in Istanbul on November 16, Ercan Tezer, general secretary of Turkey's Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), said that the Turkish automotive industry will remain flat in 2013.
Mr. Tezer indicated that investment is not at the levels required for automotive industry growth in Turkey and that foreign investments are needed, warning that attracting foreign investment might be difficult given that the EU is not likely to make overseas investments while it is shutting down factories during the current economic crisis. Ercan Tezer said that in Europe the collective labor agreements reached with the labor unions include articles to prevent production from shifting overseas.
Mr. Tezer said that the OSD does not have any concerns regarding 2013, indicating that it will not be worse than 2012.
