Turkey's steel billet imports up 4.9 percent in H1

In June this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 32.46 percent year on year to 269,121 metric tons, but decreased by 37.24 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $147.01 million, up 30.48 percent year on year but decreasing by 35.31 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the first half of this year Turkey imported 1.58 million mt of billet and bloom, up 4.91 percent, with a value of $852.74 million, increasing by 0.57 percent, both year on year.
In the first six months, Turkey imported 919,326 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 11.48 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 487,002 mt in the given period, up 18.33 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in June this year Ukraine was also the leading source for Turkey's billet and bloom imports, supplying 124,747 mt, down 5.58 percent year on year.
