Turkey's slab imports down 62.89 percent in Jan from Dec

In January this year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 103,673 mt, down 62.89 percent month on month and decreasing by 41.84 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's slab imports in the given month was $52.31 million, down 63.08 percent month on month and decreasing by 39.12 percent compared to January 2013. According to the data for January this year, the average price for Turkish slab imports was $504.53/mt, rising $22.51/mt from the average of $482.02/mt recorded in the same month of 2013. 

Meanwhile, in January of the current year Turkey imported 45,505 metric tons of slab from the UK, up three percent year on year. The UK was Turkey's largest slab import source in the month in question, followed by Ukraine and the Netherlands
