Turkey’s rebar exports down almost seven percent in 2014

In December 2014, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 754,299 metric tons, increasing by 1.16 percent year on year and up 47.8 percent from the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $377.74 million, decreasing by 13 percent compared to December 2013 and up 38.5 percent from the previous month.


 
On the other hand, in 2014 Turkey's rebar exports stood at 7.52 million metric tons, down 6.66 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $4.17 billion, decreasing by 11.3 percent year on year.
 
In December 2014, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was the US which received 165,846 metric tons, up 43.88 percent year on year. The US was followed by the UAE with 150,634 metric tons, up 232.5 percent, and Yemen with 108,030 metric tons, up 85.09 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the whole of 2014, while the UAE ranked as Turkey's leading rebar export destination, the US occupied second place ahead of Iraq by importing 924,256 mt of rebar from Turkey, up 50 percent year on year.
