Turkey's rebar exports down 4.8 percent in H1

In June this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 530,771 metric tons, decreasing by 16.48 percent year on year and down 24.69 percent from the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $303.11 million, decreasing by 17.74 percent compared to June 2013 and down 23.94 percent from the previous month.

On the other hand, in the first half of this year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 3.89 million metric tons, down 4.83 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $2.21 billion, decreasing by 8.69 percent year on year.

In June this year, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was the UAE with exports amounting to 108,392 metric tons, down 5.05 percent year on year. The UAE was followed by Israel with 54,386 metric tons, up 7.35 percent and Iraq with 53,146 metric tons, down 45.75 percent, both on year-on-year basis. As Turkey's rebar exports to Iraq have steadily decreased since February this year, in the first half, the UAE replaced Iraq as Turkey's leading rebar export destination, receiving 611,359 metric tons, up 17.27 percent year on year. In the given period, Iraq received 514,008 metric tons of rebar from Turkey, down 25.81 percent year on year.
