Turkey's rebar exports down 1.9% in Q1

In March this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 665,928 metric tons, decreasing by 18.62 percent year on year and down 5.39 percent from the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $374.20 million, decreasing by 23.31 percent compared to March 2013 and down 8.22 percent from the previous month.

On the other hand, in the first quarter this year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 1.98 million metric tons, down 1.92 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $1.13 billion, decreasing by 5.68 percent year on year.

In March this year, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was Iraq with exports amounting to 93,375 metric tons, down 27.25 percent year on year. Iraq was followed by the UAE with 92,521 metric tons and Yemen with 82,096 metric tons. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of the current year Iraq ranked first among Turkey's rebar export destinations, receiving 289,154 metric tons, down 18.28 percent year on year. Iraq was followed by the UAE which received 211,558 metric tons of rebar from Turkey, down 5.68 percent year on year.
