Turkey's PPGI imports up 78 percent in Q1

In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 19,390 mt, increasing by 78 percent, while the revenue of these imports rose to $19.85 million, up 44.14 percent, both year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey's PPGI imports in 2013 had totaled 79,312 metric tons.

In March this year, Turkey's PPGI imports rose by 25 percent year on year to 5,094 metric tons and were down 36.38 percent month on month. The value of these imports amounted to $5.67 million, up 7.60 percent year on year and decreasing by 29.20 percent month on month.
 
In the first quarter of 2014, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 12,084 metric tons, up 120.71 percent year on year. China was followed by Belgium and Egypt, with PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 2,161 metric tons and 2,064 metric tons respectively.
