Turkey's PPGI imports up 26.1 percent in H1

In the first six months of the current year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 33,047 mt, increasing by 26.1 percent, while the revenue of these imports rose to $35.67 million, up 7.77 percent, both year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey's PPGI imports in 2013 had totaled 79,312 metric tons.
In June this year, Turkey's PPGI imports increased by 73.52 percent year on year to 6,599 metric tons and were up 26.95 percent month on month. The value of these imports amounted to $6.82 million, up 20.49 percent year on year and increasing by 6.6 percent month on month.
 
In the first half of this year, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 20,440 metric tons, up 72.61 percent year on year. China was followed by Italy and Belgium, with PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 4,200 metric tons and 2,538 metric tons, down 44.24 percent and up 34.57 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, in June this year, Turkey's PPGI imports from China amounted to 4,586 metric tons, while just 708 metric tons of PPGI imports had been made from the country in June 2013.
