Turkey's PPGI imports down 72 percent in July

In the first seven months of the current year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 37,110 mt, decreasing by 8.91 percent, while the revenue of these imports amounted to $40.53 million, down 16.3 percent, both year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey's PPGI imports in 2013 had totaled 79,312 metric tons.

In July this year, Turkey's PPGI imports decreased by 72.05 percent year on year to 4,063 metric tons and were down 38.43 percent month on month. The value of these imports amounted to $4.86 million, down 68.28 percent year on year and decreasing by 28.69 percent month on month.
 
In the first seven months of this year, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 22,954 metric tons, down 3.17 percent year on year. China was followed by Italy and Belgium, with their PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 5,347 metric tons and 2,607 metric tons, down 40.24 percent and up 21.14 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, in July this year, Turkey's PPGI imports from China amounted to 2,514 metric tons, down 78.18 percent compared to 11,864 metric tons of PPGI imports from China in July 2013.
