Turkey’s home appliance exports up 13 percent in 2012

Home appliance sales in the Turkish domestic market remained stable at 6.4 million units in 2012 compared to the previous year, according to the data released by the Turkish Home Appliance Industrialists Association (BESD).

In 2012, the home appliance exports from Turkey exceeded 16 million units, increasing 13 percent year on year, with Turkey becoming the biggest home appliance producer in Europe, moving ahead of Italy. In the given year, overall home appliance sales in western Europe contracted influenced by the markets in the UK, France, Italy and Spain, while in eastern Europe overall home appliance sales expanded, both compared to 2011. In eastern Europe, Russia, the region's largest market, provided support for the increased sales in the region.
