Turkey’s Erdemir to commission BF No. 2 on October 29

Turkish steel producer Ereğli Demir ve Çelik (Erdemir) has announced that it has reconstructed its blast furnace No. 2 called “Zübeyde” and that the furnace will start production on October 29, which marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic.

The furnace is equipped with cutting-edge technology to advance occupational health and safety, environmental and energy performances. 

The furnace will increase Erdemir’s annual production capacity to 1 million 775 thousands mt from 1 million 625 thounsands mt, and will contribute to sustainable production by improving efficiency.
