Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has announced that the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process has begun for the solar power plant project in Tunceli in eastern Turkey planned to be built by Turkish steel producer Ereğli Demir ve Çelik (Erdemir).

Within the scope of the project with an investment cost of TRY 4.89 billion ($187.61 million), a total of 563,652 solar panels will be installed.

With the planned project, the power plant, which will be built with a power capacity of 235.4 MWe, is expected to annually produce 387,978 MWh of energy.

The construction works of the power plant is expected to take one year and the plant’s lifespan will be 25 years.

The company will also build a solar power plant with a power capacity of 17.6 MWe in Van, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
