Turkey’s Asil Celik sees decline in net profit for H1

Turkish specialty steel producer Asil Celik A.S. (Asil Celik) has announced its financial results for the second quarter and the first half of 2012.

In the second quarter, Asil Celik posted a net profit of TRY 10.17 million ($5.5 million), down 38 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Sales revenues of the company decreased by 5.6 percent year on year to TRY 154.26 million ($84.7 million). The company registered an operating profit of TRY 14.83 million ($8.14 million) in the second quarter this year, down 37 percent year on year.

In the first six months of the current year, the steelmaker registered a net profit of TRY 31.23 million ($17.5 million), down 3.44 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Asil Celik's sales revenues in the given period reached TRY 345.7 million ($190 million), up 12.4 percent year on year, while the company posted an operating profit of TRY 38.9 million ($21.3 million), decreasing by 12.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
