Tunisia's only steel billet producer Société Tunisienne de Siderurgie (El Fouladh) increased its billet output by 25 percent year on year in the first half of this year, thanks to the commissioning its second electric arc furnace in early July 2009 with an annual production capacity of 100,000 metric tons, ArabSteel has reported.

In the given period, El Fouladh also ramped up its long steel product output by 67 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. El Fouladh's production of long steel is mainly focused on rebar and cold rolled wire rod.  The company also increased its sales of long steel products in the first six months of 2010, to 116,000 metric tons.

El Fouladh has an overall billet production capacity reaching 200,000 metric tons per year.
