Major trading partners of the US, including the European Union (EU), China and Japan, have appealed to the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding possible US measures on imports of autos and parts, according to Reuters.

Reuters stated that over 40 WTO members, including the 28 countries of the EU, have warned that the US imposition of additional duties on imports of autos could seriously disrupt the global market and threaten the WTO system.

In addition, regarding the Section 232 tariffs of the US, China, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Venezuela, Singapore, Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, Qatar, Thailand and India also expressed their views that the tariffs are not in line with WTO rules.
