Algerian steel producer Tosyalı Algerie, a subsidiary of Turkish steelmaker Tosyalı Holding, has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Algeria-based energy company Sonatrach regarding the exploration of green hydrogen production in the country.

The parties will carry out a feasibility study for production of green hydrogen, which will be utilized in the production of green steel at Tosyali’s steel complex. Green hydrogen production in Algeria will reduce natural gas consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the country’s national hydrogen strategy.
