TISCO to increase production to 15 million tons

Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corp (TISCO) is planning to increase its production capacity to 15 million tons by 2015. For the project, the company plans to invest Rupees 80 billion ($1.7 billion). The company currently produces 4 million tons of steel products per annum. This figure is planned to be increased to 7.4 million tons by 2008. In order to increase capacity, the company will establish a new blast furnace and a production line. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, TISCO acquired Nat Steel, which added 2.4 million tons to TISCO's capacity. Moreover, TISCO is setting up a steel plant in Orissa to reach its production target of 15 million tons. The steel plant will have a production capacity of 6 million tons.
