ThyssenKrupp posts its first quarter results

German steel producer ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG has recently posted its first quarter results. According to the report, the company posted earnings before taxes and minority interest of €166 million. This figure was €141 million in the same period of previous year. In the aforementioned period, sales of ThyssenKrupp remained at its level of €8.7 billion however orders increased to €9.6 billion, up by 6% against the corresponding period of last fiscal. Moreover, ThyssenKrupp's net financial payables amounted to €4.533 million in the quarter ended on December 31, 2003, which is €318 million more than the previous quarter, however €311 million less than the same quarter of previous year. An official from ThyssenKrupp stated that the company expects to record better results in 2004 depending on the economic improvement.
