ThyssenKrupp completes renovation of cold rolling mill

According to latest industry reports, German steel producer ThyssenKrupp Stahl (TKS) has completed 2 year renovation of its cold rolling mill in Dortmund. The line's current annual capacity is 2.4 million tons. The renovation was carried out while the plant continued to run. As a result only 34 days were lost of production throughout the 2 year project. The company invested €33 million for this renovation. The project involved renovation of the pickling line and cold rolling mills as well as construction of a new continuous exit section with two coilers and a new coil transfer section. It is also reported that, after the renovation, the annual capacity increased by 300'000 tons. TKS' cold rolling mill in Duisburg and in Dortmund are both providing high surface quality sheet for the automotive industry.
