TCUD: Turkish steel market should be protected from trade deflection

Tuesday, 05 June 2018 16:55:46 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

According to the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD), the reactions and countermeasures against the US Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and the EU’s safeguard investigation to protect its own steel industry and to ensure its ordinary trade flow might impact the Turkish steel industry’s production and exports adversely.

The TCUD stated that Turkey’s steel exports have declined in volume for the last two months due to the uncertainties in the markets as a result of these developments and added that, if the current conditions continue, steel exports will continue to decrease in 2018. The TCUD concluded by stressing that it is highly important that the domestic market should be protected from trade deflections and unfair imports of sub-standard products.
