According to global media reports, steelmaker Tata Steel has been awarded a contract to supply the pipe for a new crude oil pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico. Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is constructing the deepwater pipeline in the Keathly Canyon area in the Gulf. Tata's Hartlepool, England mill will deliver over 48,000 metric tons (105 miles or 169 kilometers) of 18-inch diameter line pipe. The project has the capacity to produce about 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
