Tata Steel starts building cold rolling mill complex BARA phase II

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel Limited has announced that it has launched construction of the second phase of its cold rolling mill complex BARA at Jamshedpur in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
 
Tata Steel stated that, during phase I, the reversing mill of 250,000 mt per year capacity was installed at the cold rolling mill complex BARA to meet the full hard cold rolled requirement of Tata BlueScope Ltd, an equal joint venture between Tata Steel and Australia-based steelmaker BlueScope. In addition, the phase II expansion of the mill includes installation of a 300,000 mt per year hot rolled skin passing mill to meet the increased demand for hot rolled, pickled, skin passed and oiled products in the automotive sector for high-end customers. The production capacity of the existing pickling line has also been increased to 680,000 mt per year from the designed capacity of 500,000 mt per year.
