Tata Steel Europe, a subsidiary of India's Tata Steel, has announced that it has invested in two vacuum arc remelting furnaces and in testing equipment at its Stocksbridge steelworks in South Yorkshire, UK to produce more steel for the aerospace industry.

According to the Tata Steel statement, final installation works on the new equipment are being carried out to enable trials to begin by the end of 2011. Both furnaces are expected to be in full production in early 2012.

The £6.5 million investment in aerospace steel production will increase output by 30 percent. Tata Steel invested over £20 million in South Yorkshire in the last year.
