Tangsteel starts commissioning high-strength auto sheet project

On January 15, the high-strength auto sheet project of Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group’s subsidiary Hebei-based Tangsteel saw the commencement of hot testing of its continuous annealing and pickling lines, marking the start of the commissioning phase of the project. 

The project is being implemented in Kaiping Industrial park in the city of Tangshan and will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million mt, producing high-strength cold rolled sheet and hot dip galvanized (HDG) used in the automotive and home appliance sectors, especially ultra-high-strength steel sheet used in the automotive sector with strength of 600-1,200 MPa.

Construction work on the project got underway in April 2013.
