Taiwan’s CSC orders 270 mt twin ladle furnace

Kaohsiung, Taiwan-based steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has ordered a 270 mt twin ladle furnace from the German plantmaker SMS Mevac. The order includes engineering, supply, supervision of installation and commissioning, as well as training.
 
The twin ladle furnace with an annual capacity of 1.94 million mt is intended for CSC's No. 2 basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking plant. The total capacity of BOF steelmaking plants No. 1 and No. 2 amounts to 10 million mt per year.
 
The commissioning of the furnace is scheduled for March 2013.
