According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association (Jernkontoret), in September this year Swedish crude steel production amounted to 363,200 metric tons, decreasing by five percent year on year, but indicating a strong increase on month-on-month basis for the second consecutive month.
In the first nine months of 2012, Swedish crude steel production totaled 3.3 million mt, with a decrease of 11.8 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
The deliveries of finished steel products including plate, strip, wire, rod, profiles and tubes, from Swedish steelworks amounted to 732,800 mt in the third quarter of the current year, falling 11.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of this year Sweden's exports of finished steel, including blooms and billets, amounted to 2.15 million mt, down eight percent compared to the same period of 2011. Swedish finished steel imports in the first seven months totaled 2.1 million mt, down 4.5 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
