Spanish industrial vehicle output rises 27.59 percent in May

In May this year, total motor vehicle production in Spain increased by 3.3 percent to 228,622 units, including 178,659 passenger cars, down 1.71 percent, both compared to May 2010, according to the data reported by the Spanish Automobile and Truck Manufacturers' Association (Anfac).


In the industrial vehicle segment, a sharp year-on-year increase of 27.59 percent was recorded in output in May.


Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 1,089,688 units, rising by 1.20 percent year on year. In the January-May period, the industrial vehicle segment recorded a growth of 21.47 percent, totaling 219,692 units.


In May, 87.1 percent of total production was exported, while motor vehicle exports in the first five months of this year grew by 6.91 percent year on year to 963,587 units. The percentage of the total export of vehicles produced in Spain in the January-May period stood at 88.42 percent.
