In September this year, total motor vehicle production in Spain increased by 2.9 percent to 230,515 units, including 183,239 passenger cars, up 4.94 percent, both compared to September 2010, according to the data reported by the Spanish Automobile and Truck Manufacturers' Association (ANFAC).
In the industrial vehicle segment, a year-on-year decrease of 11.48 percent was recorded in output in September. According to the association's statement, the slowing down of the European market in the last few months leads to anticipation of a reduction in the volumes of production of the Spanish factories. After the September data, ANFAC revised its vehicle production estimates for 2011 to 2.38 million units which is stable as compared to 2010, while it expects a two percent decline on year-on-year basis in passenger car production in 2011.
In the first nine months of this year, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 1,841,970 units, rising by 1.63 percent year on year. In the January-September period, the passenger car segment recorded a decline of 1.76 percent in output, totaling 1,437,204 units.
In September, 92.15 percent of total Spanish motor vehicle production was exported, while motor vehicle exports in the first nine months of this year grew by 6.57 percent year on year to 1,653,009 units.
