In the first half of this year, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 1,096,082 units, falling by 18.3 percent year on year, according to the data reported by the Spanish Automobile and Truck Manufacturers' Association (ANFAC).

In the given period, the Spanish passenger car segment recorded a decline of 18 percent year on year in output. In the industrial vehicle segment in the first six months, a significant year-on-year decrease of 25 percent was recorded in output. Meanwhile, Spanish exports of motor vehicles in the first half of this year fell 21.3 percent year on year to 940,186 units.

The association said that the decline in the European markets where Spain exports vehicles produces had a direct impact on production volumes of the country's factories. Hence Spanish industry is diversifying its production with new export destinations. ANFAC also noted that it has revised down its forecast production for 2012, to below 2 million units.
