South Korea's auto output up 3.7 percent in Q1

In March this year, South Korea's total automotive (cars and commercial vehicles) output amounted to 425,510 units, up 16.4 percent year on year and up 17.8 percent month on month, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). On the other hand, South Korea's car and commercial vehicle output in the first quarter of the current year saw a year-on-year increase of 3.7 percent to 1,154,853 units.

Meanwhile, in March this year South Korean automotive exports totaled 286,754 units, up 16.9 percent month on month and rising by 9.9 percent year on year. In the first three months of the current year, the country's automotive exports increased by 1.1 percent year on year to 788,957 units.

In March this year, the number of vehicles sold in the South Korean domestic market totaled 122,497 units, up 2.9 percent year on year and increasing by 13.5 percent month on month. In the first quarter, domestic vehicle sales in South Korea increased by 4.3 percent year on year to 337,587 units
