South Korea's auto output up 12.3 percent in April

In April this year, South Korea's total automotive (cars and commercial vehicles) output amounted to 433,799 units, up 1.95 percent month on month and rising by 12.34 percent year on year, constituting the third consecutive year-on-year increase, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). South Korea's car and commercial vehicle output in the first four months of the current year saw a year-on-year increase of 5.9 percent to 1,588,652 units.

Meanwhile, in April South Korean automotive exports totaled 299,947 units, up 5.13 percent month on month and rising by 14.22 percent year on year, while in the first four months the country's automotive exports increased by 4.28 percent year on year to 1,087,451 units.

In April this year, the number of vehicles sold in the South Korean domestic market totaled 131,053 units, up 10.22 percent year on year and increasing by 6.97 percent month on month. In the first four months, domestic vehicle sales in South Korea increased by 5.92 percent year on year to 442,484 units.
