Most South Korean steelworks have begun facility repair works at their rebar mills.
Seven major South Korean steelworks are known to have set their schedule to repair their rebar production facilities in the last week of July, and therefore, it is difficult to find any domestic rebar producer which is operating at full capacity at present.
In the case of Hyundai Steel, the largest rebar maker in South Korea, its Incheon Works and Dangjin Works commenced their summer repair works on July 18. They will finish repair works by around July 28 and by the end of the month, respectively. Hyundai Steel's Pohang Works began repair activity on July 25, and is expected to complete repairs by the beginning of August.
Dongkuk Steel will repair its Incheon Plant at the end of this month and shut down its Pohang Plant from July 26 to 31.
YK Steel is currently carrying out five-day repairs starting from July 25. It will shut down its No. 1 rolling mill from July 29 to 31. Daehan Steel also commenced facility repair works at its Shinpyung Plant on July 25, with repair works schedules to finish by the end of July.
