South Africa’s base metal export value up 1.2 percent in January-July

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in July this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 10.7 billion ($825.13 million), down 11.7 percent from June. In the first seven months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 1.2 percent year on year to ZAR 80.4 billion ($6.2 billion). 

In July of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.27 billion ($329.5 million), decreasing 17.5 percent from the previous month, while in the January-July period of this year South African imports of base metals and articles thereof fell by 3.6 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 34.4 billion ($2.65 billion).
