SMS to install two slab casters at Masteel
Germany's SMS Demag signed a deal with Manshan Iron and Steel Co Ltd (Masteel) to supply two double-strand continuous slab casters to the Chinese steel producer. The casters will be able to produce 230 mm and 250 mm thick slabs with widths ranging between 950 mm and 2150 mm. The casters will have a combined annual capacity of 5.7 million tons. The casters will be operational by March 2007.
