Siemens VAI to modernize section mill equipment for Italian steelmaker

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced that Italian steelmaker Riva Acciaio has placed an order for the modernization of the roughing train at its medium section mill located in Sellero, Brescia.
 
The modernization project aims to boost productivity and expand flexibility in respect of operation modes and product change. The modernization works are scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2012. Siemens VAI will also supervise installation and commissioning.

The medium section mill with an annual capacity of around 250,000 metric tons produces square bar, flat bar and U-sections with widths of up to 340 mm and round bar with diameters of up to 160 mm.
