On May 21, Germany-based engineering company and plantmaker Siemens, announced that it has received an order from Chinese steelmaker Henan Jiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. to supply a wire rod outlet for its first imported rod mill that will produce higher quality steel grade products for the company. The rod outlet is to be installed on a Chinese-made roughing intermediate mill. The project is scheduled to be completed by late 2011.
Designed to produce up to 150 metric tons of wire rod per hour, the new rod outlet will provide the tolerances and quality required to produce alloy steels, spring steel and bearing steels. Annual production is expected to be 600,000 metric tons of 5 to 25 mm rods and 6 to 16 mm HRBF rebar. Siemens VAI will supervise the installation and commissioning of the rod outlet.
Henan Jiyuan Iron and Steel produces 600,000 metric tons of iron and steel annually. The main products include steel billets, pig iron, ferroalloy and steel tube.
