ShanDong Fulun orders two high-speed wire rod mills from SMS Meer

On June 2, Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group's SMS Meer announced that it has received an order from Laiwu-based Chinese steelmaker ShanDong Fulun Iron & Steel Company Ltd to supply two high-speed wire rod mills.

The wire rod mills, each with an annual output capacity of 700,000 metric tons, will be able to produce wire rods of 5.5-25 mm diameter and rebars of 6-14 mm diameter, in a broad spectrum of steel grades from carbon steel and cold heading grades, spring steels, welding wire and ball bearing steels right up to stainless steels.

The mills are scheduled to go into service in mid-2011.
