Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that its Izhora Pipe Mill (IPM), which specializes in the manufacturing of large diameter pipes using strips produced by Cherepovets Steel Mill, has received certification allowing it to supply pipes to the European market, which would include the South Stream pipe line system's on-land sections.

Izhora Pipe Mill, located in St. Petersburg, met all the necessary standards for certification according to directives 97/23/EC and regulations (EU) No. 305/2011. Furthermore, all of the plant's welders and welding processes were certified according to the EN 287-1:2011 standard.

In August this year, the mill was audited by representatives from the TUV Rheinland certification organization.
