Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel (Severstal), has announced that it has commenced its program for the implementation of STO Gazprom 9001-2006 standards, ISO/TS 29001:2007 international standards, and API Spec. Q1, in order to increase effectiveness of the company's activity in the interests of consumers of its steel products for the oil, petrochemical and natural gas industry.
Under the scope of the program, Severstal Cherepovets has created a number of projects in order to develop, implement and receive approval of quality and management systems by the end of 2010.
Severstal Cherepovets' management structures and systems, the company's hot rolled facilities (flat rolling shops No. 1 and No. 2), and Leningrad region-based Severstal SMC Kolpino's flat rolling shop No.3 will all be involved in the program in question.
The program is in line with Severstal's project to create with its subsidiaries an internal chain of companies, which will work under the same standards as required of all suppliers of steel products to the oil and gas industry.
