Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel, has announced that it plans to increase its supplies of high strength strips to pipemaking companies, both in the domestic and foreign markets.

With this aim, Severstal Cherepovets has resumed the project for the reconstruction of its mill 2000's coil reeling section in its flat rolling shop No. 2, which will allow it to reel hot rolled strips of up to 25 mm thickness (previously it was unable to reel thicknesses greater than 16 mm), thus expanding its range of high strength strips.

The reconstruction project will cost Ruble 1.6 billion (about $54.4 million), with the installation of the equipment to be finished in the second quarter of 2012.
