Severstal Cherepovets, the principal steel producing base of Severstal Russian Steel, has placed an order with the Serbian equipment and machinery company Gosa Fom for the supply of two coke machines for the reconstruction of its coke battery No. 7. The cost of the order amounts to Ruble 420 million (approx. $16 million).

The coke machines include coke pushers, coke transfer cars, coal charging cars and lifting devices, and are scheduled to be supplied in Q2-Q3 of 2010.

The reconstruction of the coke battery No. 7 will be carried out in the framework of Severstal Cherepovets' earlier announced investment program aimed at guaranteeing the required output level of 9.4 million mt per year of pig iron and the balance in coke production.

Production operations at the coke battery in question are due to be stopped on July 1, 2009, with the reconstructed coke battery scheduled to be commissioned on July 1, 2011.
