Scrap imports hit record high at Zhangjiagang port in May

According to the inspection and quarantine bureau at Zhangjiagang port in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, ferrous scrap imports arriving at the port in May this year totaled 337,000 mt with a value of $170 million, up 722 percent and 1,600 percent year on year respectively, and both constituting all-time record highs.

Last year, scrap imports at Zhangjiagang port decreased strongly from May up to September. They then increased from November on, eventually reaching a record high in May of the current year.
