According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferrous scrap exports totaled 347,758 metric tons in July this year, increasing slightly by 1.12 percent month on month and up 93 percent compared to July 2011, as the country's scrap exports started to recover following the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan on March 11, 2011.
In July this year, Japanese scrap exports to South Korea totaled 347,758 metric tons, while exports to China amounted to 270,603 metric tons, decreasing by 21.37 percent and up 19 percent respectively, both compared to June.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of this year, Japan's scrap exports amounted to 4.82 million metric tons, increasing by 72 percent year on year.
