In a collaboration with agencies EMBRAPI and SENAI, Brazilian iron ore and pellet producer Samarco is evaluating the utilization of microwaves in the company’s iron ore and pellets drying operations.

A model prototype for the process was already developed, including monitoring and data collection systems, increasing the reliability of the results and the safety of the operation, chiefly in relation to the leakage of microwaves.

According to the company, the process could use electric energy from renewable sources, reducing the emissions of carbon dioxide, with a high potential to optimize the productive process, while the collaboration with third parties can generate more knowledge, reducing risks and sharing value.
