SAIL to expand its capacity to 22 mio tons by 2010

According to recent news in the market, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is planning to expand its capacity to 22 million tons by 2010 from its current annual finished steel capacity of 11 million tons under the scope of perspective plan, including investments. The perspective plan is scheduled to be completed in three or four months' time. The expansion will be materialized through utilization of existing sources and revamp of certain mills of the company. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, another Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corp (TISCO) is also planning to expand its capacity to 15 million tons by year 2010.
