SAIL posts highest-ever first quarter finished steel output

Indian state-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that its finished steel output increased by six percent year on year to 3.2 million mt in the first quarter, the highest-ever first quarter production. SAIL's finished steel output amounted to 1.08 million mt in June, up seven percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the first quarter, SAIL's production of value-added steel also rose, increasing by four percent to 1.28 million mt compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
